Word as Image

Word as Image is a project by Ji Lee, where he set himself the challenge of taking a word and using only the letters in that word, to form an image to represent said word. The solutions he arrived at are really effective, due mainly to their apparent simplicity, many of which are aided by an element of humour.

The project started nearly twenty years ago as an assignment in his typography class at art school. However, it was towards the end of last year when the project culminated with the publication of the Word as Image book, which collects together almost 100 of Ji Lee’s word images.
